Copywriting

You have 8 seconds to convince your readers that you’re worth their attention. Copywriters are artisans of the written word who reel your audience in using the least amount of words possible, and then keep them reading. It’s not all words—copywriters must understand the hopes, fears, and dreams of the people you want to reach. What makes a copywriter truly great, however, is being a good listener: By asking the right questions and intently listening to the answers we get, we find the right tone to represent your business.

Working for the Swedish-English copy shop The Last Word, I got the honor of consolidating my passion for language and writing with practical experience under close mentorship by Roger Choate, seasoned copywriter and long-time Sweden Correspondent for The Times (London). In addition to copywriting, I designed and co-wrote the company website and took part in developing its brand strategy.

Editing & Proofreading

One of the core challenges when carving out your masterpiece is tracking progress and delivering structure when engrossed in a spirited workflow. Unfortunately, we humans are impatient and judgemental creatures, and your brilliant content may be lost on your readership if your presentation is clunky, disorderly, or full of typos—and yes, everyone makes them. An independent set of eyes may prove invaluable in making sure your next book, paper, or thesis hits the nail on the head. In my case, the set of eyes in question happens to belong to a perfectionist who won’t let go of your piece until it’s absolutely unassailable.

With my background in linguistics and experience in the media world, I bring to bear a combination of a keen marketing mindset and a deep appreciation of the unforgiving endeavor that is academic writing. As it turns out, academics and copywriters share a common demon: The struggle of finding the elusive balance between clarity, conciseness, and due accuracy.

I look forward to hearing about your next masterpiece.
